Día de los Muertos altars are an important tradition celebrated by Mexican people throughout the world. This year’s theme is “Noche de Ofrendas” (Night of the Altars) with a focus on the candles, light, and relationships to those who have passed. Often found within homes or public places, Day of the Dead altars are created to honor and welcome deceased loved ones.

Altars created by community members will be on display. Paper candles created by local schools will decorate the museum atrium and exhibit space.

The exhibit will be on display until November 1, when the museum will host a Day of the Dead Celebration with music, dancing and refreshments. This event is free and open to the public.
