Models and posters of local historic landmarks, people, and events created by 94 fourth-grade students are showcased in the 35th annual Sioux City History Projects exhibit will be on display beginning March 14th at the Sioux City Public Museum.

After studying local history, over 800 students from 17 participating schools made projects about Sioux City’s past. Projects displayed in the Museum have been evaluated according to their uniqueness, quality, and how they relate to Sioux City history. Unique creations this year include Trinity Heights Queen of Peace, JFK at the Stockyards, Calvary Cemetery, the White Horse Mounted Patrol, Sioux City Mini Indy, Bacon Creek Park, Billy Boy, and Harvey’s.

The exhibit opens on March 14 and will be on display through May 9, when students will be honored at a reception and awards ceremony. As always, the public is invited to vote for their favorite history project in the Visitors’ Choice Award category. Ballots are available at the Museum’s front desk.

The participating elementary schools include Bryant Elementary, Cathedral Dual Language Academy, Holy Cross Elementary, Hunt Elementary, Irving Elementary, Leeds Elementary, Liberty Elementary, Loess Hills Elementary, Morningside Elementary, Perry Creek Elementary, Riverside Elementary, Sacred Heart, Siouxland Christian, Spalding Park Elementary, St. Paul Lutheran, Sunnyside Elementary, and Unity Elementary.
