Navajo Rugs 1910-1977

Rugs donated by a noted cultural anthropologist and honorary member of the Navajo tribe are among the textiles showcased. The Navajo styles represented are Ganado, Klagetoh, Crystal, Teec Nos Pos, Storm Pattern and Yei Pattern.

Nine of the 14 rugs in the exhibit were collected during the 1920s by noted cultural anthropologist and honorary member of the Navajo tribe Dr. Clyde Kluckhohn (1905-1960) of LeMars, IA.

The exhibit opened in November in honor of Native American Heritage Month.
