Dr. Bruce Forbes discusses Easter’s history, meanings, and practices, including topics such as relationships with the Jewish Passover, the changing date each year, and bunnies, eggs, Easter baskets and parades.

 

Forbes is Professor Emeritus of Religious Studies, Morningside University, now retired after forty years of full-time teaching there. He is the author of Christmas: A Candid History (2007) and America’s Favorite Holidays: Candid Histories (2015). The second book includes chapters about Valentine’s Day, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
