The Sioux City Public Museum is proud to present a special opportunity to experience Uncle John’s Ceiling Murals through the eyes of the artist. As part of the ongoing exhibition, muralist Paul Chelstad will host a gallery tour and meet-and-greet on Sunday, June 22 at 2:00 p.m. This free event invites the public to engage with the artist and hear the unique story behind one of Sioux City’s iconic works of art.
Originally commissioned in 1978 by Mike Duncan, owner of Uncle John Records and Tapes, the 22-panel mural once adorned the ceiling of the store’s West 3rd Street location. Celebrating the spirit and history of music, the artwork is now fully displayed in the Museum’s gallery, allowing visitors to experience the mural in its entirety.
Uncle John’s Ceiling Murals will remain on display at the Sioux City Public Museum through October 5, 2025.
