Military Families Get Support During The Holidays

KCAU - Many Siouxland military families were not together for the holidays last year and for many soldiers who just came back from deployment, this time of year can be very stressful. Welcome Center Reopens Along Riverfront

It's another reopening along the riverfront. This Friday, the Sergeant Floyd River Museum and Welcome Center will reopen its doors for the first time in four months. The Sergeant Floyd Museum and Welcome Center were one of the many businesses along the Missouri River forced to close because of the flooding. But luckily for these two businesses, there was no water damage to either building. So instead of cleaning up flood waters, they took the time to do some overdue repairs. Read more...[link]

City closes riverfront parks due to rising water

Chris Larsen Park, the Anderson Dance Pavilion and the nearby Flight 232 Memorial have been closed due to rising Missouri River waters. Angel Wallace, parks and recreation director, announced this afternoon that Chris Larsen Park Road is closed to through traffic. The road runs along the riverfront from Hamilton Boulevard south to Floyd Boulevard. Bev's on the River and the Hilton Garden Inn, the Argosy casino and the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center remain open until floodwaters cause their closure. The Sgt. Sioux City Public Museum announces construction timeline for new site

Sioux City Public Museum officials announced today that plans are on track for the renovation of the new museum site in downtown Sioux City. Construction and renovation of the former J.C. Penney building is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2009. The project will include a facelift of the entire south side of the building, renovation of the interior of the building including permanent and temporary exhibit spaces, and the construction of classrooms. The current archives and collections located in the Pearl Street Research Center will be incorporated into the new facility. The New Museum is projected to open in the summer of 2010.
