The Sioux City Public Museum and its sites are able to provide a higher level
of service to the community thanks to the commitment of an outstanding
group of volunteers. Over 125 volunteers give approximately 6,000 hours annually.

Volunteer positions include:

  • Greeter
  • Gallery guide
  • Special event support
  • Children's program assistant
  • Archival assistant
  • Oral history assistant
  • Sergeant Floyd River Museum & Welcome Center

Volunteer training, learning about local history and exploring the Museum
“behind the scenes” are all part of the volunteer experience.

Interns are valued additions to the Museum staff. Museum supervisors work with interns on a variety of tasks and roles within the Museum. Internships are generally unpaid and available to college and high school students. See the Museum's Internship Policy for details.
