Ever wonder how corsets created those tiny waists and what were the physical results for the wearer? Join us for a peek at what women were wearing under their clothing throughout the years. Joi Mahon, a local award winning designer, and Pat Day, featured lecturer and storyteller, will team up in this whimsical interpretation of the history of undergarments as we celebrate Women's History Month in March.

The Home Fronts of Iowa, 1940-45

WWII-era home front contributions will be discussed in this Humanities Iowa-sponsored presentation. Lisa Ossian, associate professor of history at Des Moines Area Community College, explains how Iowan’s home front efforts divided into the farm front, the production front, the community front, and the kitchen front. Ossian will also sign copies of her recently published book, The Home Fronts of Iowa, 1939-1945.
