The Sioux City Public Museum offers a variety of summer programming for children ages 3 and up. Class sizes are limited; pre-registration and pre-payment are required. The Museum’s summer programming is made possible in part with funding from the Gilchrist Foundation. Discounts on class fees are available for members of the Sioux City Museum & Historical Association. The Association is currently offering $5 off new memberships when joining as part of a summer program registration. The special $25 family membership provides a discount on class fees.

Sgt. Floyd Burial Ceremony

Sergeant Floyd Monument, located along US Hwy. 75, one mile north of 1-29 Exit 143
Re-enactors in full dress uniform re-create the 1804 burial of Sgt. Charles Floyd, the only member of the Lewis and Clark expedition to die during the journey. The ceremony includes a description of Charles Floyd and his death, as written in the journals by Capt. William Clark. For more information, contact the Sgt. Bill Diamond Antique and Classic Car Show

The Sioux City Museum & Historical Association’s 41st annual car show will feature approximately 60 automobiles and trucks. Admission is free. Those wishing to present their own classic or antique car should have their car at the Sergeant Floyd River Museum and Welcome Center by 11:30 a.m. for placement.
